Abdominal aortic aneurysms occur in people with vascular disease due to atherosclerosis.  These aneurysms are an actual bulge in a weakened area of the abdominal aorta, which is the largest artery in the body.  They are not unlike an overfilled innertube , and often cause no symptoms until they rupture with devastating consequences.  Fortunately, they can be diagnosed in advance with this test.
